3 quilters, 36 art bags
This was my first project in the field of quilt exhibitions.
I was asked to display 36 unique bags. I’ve curated many exhibitions featuring a variety of objects, including traditional paintings and sculptures, but it was different from the beginning. I found it challenging to determine whether the piece should be displayed as an art piece to appreciate, or something to attract visitors to try on.
Finding a way to display bags of various shapes, styles, materials, and quilt techniques within a white-cube space was both an intriguing and challenging task.
I aimed to move beyond the traditional method of simply hanging bags on the wall. Instead, I experimented with different objects, such as furniture, wallpaper, and silhouettes of people, to present the bags in a more three-dimensional and practical way.
