13 Korean Art Quilts
The two long years of the global pandemic were like a never-ending winter. People everywhere were isolated and unable to interact and travel as they normally would. However, since the beginning of time, endless winter is always followed by a bright and beautiful spring. What better way to celebrate spring than with 13 exquisite textile art quilts made by Korean artists for a new exhibition titled “Blooming!”
This theme also coincides with the huge K-wave, a global awakening to Korean entertainment. People around the world who had no choice but to stay at home, took to their streaming services to absorb Korean dramas, movies, and especially our music – K-pop. The K-wave that is sweeping across the world proves that Korean entertainment is sought after by millions of people – not just because it's new and strange, but because Korean culture has its own story to tell that is compelling and absorbing. Korea’s quiltmakers also have an authentic story to tell. Their art is like no other country and the quilts featured in this exhibition are world-class fine art.
”Blooming” will be exhibited at the Carrefour European du Patchwork, one of Europe's largest quilt shows thanks to a special invitation to bring these beautiful quilts to France. This show, and other global exhibitions, are promoting the beauty of Korean art quilts. It will be also promoted in the Quilt Festival in Korea, the largest quilt fair in Korea, in an effort to support every talented quilter in Korea.
